Dr. Harris Is Retiring — Southern Retina Eye Specialists Is Closing
After many years of caring for eye patients in the Savannah area, Dr. Charles L. Harris is retiring. Dr. Harris's last day of seeing patients is Thursday, December 3, 2026, and Southern Retina, LLC will close on that date.
Please do not let your eye care lapse. Macular degeneration and other retinal disease, diabetic eye disease, and glaucoma can all worsen permanently if treatment or monitoring stops. Glaucoma in particular causes no symptoms until damage is already done. Please arrange to see another ophthalmologist now rather than waiting until December.
To find an ophthalmologist:
- Call the number on your insurance card, or use your plan's online provider directory
- Ask your optometrist or primary care physician for a referral
- Use Find an Ophthalmologist at aao.org, or asrs.org, the retina specialist society
If you receive eye injections and do not have an upcoming appointment, , please email us at [email protected] or call us at (912) 353-7900. You will need to schedule with another doctor after your last appointment with Dr. Harris.
If you use eye pressure drops, please see a new ophthalmologist before your refills run out.
Your medical records
Posted August,15,2026 :Your complete medical record office visits are available now through the patient portal. Please log in, download, and save a copy before December 3, 2026. If you have trouble getting your records off the portal, let us know and we will help you. If you want them sent to a doctor and we did not refer you, download the authorization form, complete it, and return it to our office at 836 East 65th Street, Building 34, Savannah, Georgia 31405. We will preferably need the doctor's encrypted email address, otherwise the fax number.
Requests must be received by December 3, 2026. Records may not be available after that date.
